Songs on the piano

Every song in the catalogue, all of them at written pitch. The piano is the only instrument here that never has to move a tune to fit.

Why 100, and not 100

A keyboard has every note, so nothing can be out of reach: the lesson simply narrows the keyboard to the stretch a song lives in and leaves the rest alone.

That makes the piano the wrong instrument to ask "can I play this?" - the answer is always yes. The question worth asking is what a song asks of your hands, which is what each song page measures: how fast its quickest passage runs, how far it leaps, how many black keys it wants.

Where the tunes sit

Of the 100 it plays, 100 are taught at written pitch.

The same catalogue, other instruments

One song list, nine instruments, and every one of them meets it differently.
