Privacy
As it stands today, ToneWright collects no personal data, in the app or on this site. This page is dated, and it changes before anything that measures you does.
Last updated: 3 September 2026. It describes the app and site as they are on that date. If that ever stops being true, this page is updated first, not afterwards.
The app
This version of the ToneWright app contains no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting. It does not ask for your name, your email or any identifier, and it has no sign-in.
Everything you make stays on your device:
- recordings of your playing, and songs you make, are written to the app's own folder on your device;
- settings - layouts, tuning, language - are stored the same way;
- your progress through the lessons is stored on the device and nowhere else.
None of it is uploaded. Deleting the app deletes all of it. If you export a recording as an audio file, where it then goes is up to you and the app you share it with.
The one time the app uses the network
Extra instrument sound banks are optional downloads. If - and only if - you
ask for one, the app fetches that file from
cdn.tonewright.app. It is a plain file download: nothing about
you is sent, and no identifier travels with the request. As with any
request on the internet, the server that answers it sees the network
address it must reply to. The app works fully offline otherwise.
This website
These pages are static files. They set no cookies, run no analytics or advertising scripts, and load nothing from third-party servers. The playable instruments run entirely in your browser - the sounds are audio files your browser downloads, and nothing about your playing is sent anywhere.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which - like any web host - processes the requests needed to serve a page to you, including your network address, and keeps short-lived operational logs for security and reliability. We do not receive a report identifying you from that.
The tuner and your microphone
One page, the tuner, asks for your microphone, because it cannot hear your instrument otherwise. Your browser will ask you first, and it will not work unless you agree.
What happens to the sound: it is analysed in the page, a frequency is worked out from it, and the sound is discarded as it goes. Nothing is recorded, nothing is stored, and nothing is uploaded - there is no server involved in it at all, and the page has nowhere to send audio even if it wanted to. Closing the page or pressing the button to turn the microphone off releases it immediately.
Every other page on this site works without any permission, and no other page asks for one.
If we ever add measurement to this site, it will be a method that sets no cookies and builds no profile of you, and this page will say so before it is switched on.
Children
This version of the app is made to be safe for children to use: no ads, no purchases, no chat, no links out to places we do not control, and no data collection of any kind, so there is nothing about a child for us to hold. If any of that changes, this page changes with it, and so do the age rating and the data declarations on both stores.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction and erasure apply to personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to hand over or delete - and no request is needed to make that true. You can still write to us with any question below.
